About the position

The position involves layout and piece marking of duct drawings, as well as creating electronic files that contain construction standards and details for the fabrication of the duct represented on the drawings. The role requires a thorough review of plans, contract documents, and release information to determine the proper scope of work provided by SEMCO. Collaboration with the Take Off To Build (TOTB) team is essential to establish layout, supply, and manufacturing plans. The individual must ensure that electronic representations of the plans are accurate and that markings on drawings align with proprietary software applications. Additionally, the role includes reporting discrepancies that may impact order fulfillment and requires effective communication with various teams including Sales, Reps, and contractors/engineers. The position also entails creating detailed electronically fabricated sketches for shop fabrication and maintaining accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, order write-ups, contract documents, and release information to determine proper scope of work provided by SEMCO.
• Create accurate electronic representations of what is indicated on plans and release documents based on interpretations.
• Ensure markings on drawings are accurate to match proprietary software applications.
• Report discrepancies in processes and plans that will impact order fulfillment, involving communication with the TOTB team, Sales, Reps, or contractors/engineers.
• Create detailed electronically fabricated sketches that include all pertinent information for shop fabrication.
• Breakdown and piece mark duct shown on contract drawings into components that comply with SEMCO construction standards.
• Using proprietary software, create electronic files that match SEMCO construction standards and contain all necessary information for fabrication by plant personnel.
• Order and release jobs using proprietary software to correspond with fabrication schedules.
• Utilize CAD software for designing air duct systems.
• Provide final documentation for SEMCO systems to duct installers, inclusive of all instructions and materials.
• Prepare comparisons of contract drawings with estimated drawings as required.
• Properly maintain drawings and other electronic files.
• Investigate customer complaints as needed.

Requirements

• Advanced skill in reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints.
• Experience and exposure to sheet metal work, HVAC, construction, manufacturing, drafting, or welding is beneficial.
• High mechanical aptitude and reading comprehension skills.
• Strong computer systems experience required.
• Drafting or CAD experience is beneficial for the role.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical school, drafting, or specialized training are beneficial.
