About the position

The Talent Acquisition and Diversity Specialist at Villanova University plays a crucial role in executing the university-wide talent acquisition process, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing recruitment strategies. This position is dedicated to building relationships and creating an equitable hiring process, while managing the Affirmative Action Plan and consulting with hiring managers on recruitment procedures. The specialist will contribute to fostering an inclusive community that values diversity among students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate position review and posting process.
  • Develop timelines and milestones for the search process and approve/route requisitions in the applicant tracking system.
  • Ensure all job descriptions and postings are accurate and compliant with all federal/state laws and University policy.
  • Become a trusted talent partner, build relationships and develop an understanding of the community's talent needs.
  • Consult with hiring managers on recruitment procedures and processes, and the development of recruitment strategies to decrease the time to fill/hire.
  • Manage and drive a structured interview process.
  • Prescreen applications, select and refer qualified candidates, and conduct initial interviews as needed.
  • Assist hiring managers and search committees in the development of role-specific and behavioral interview questions and selection rubrics.
  • Monitor candidate pools to ensure searches are progressing, hiring managers are timely in their recruitment activities, and hiring recommendations are defensible and support the chosen candidates.
  • Deliver a smooth and exceptional candidate experience from the first outreach.
  • Evaluate the University's current processes, tools, and resources and make recommendations to increase effectiveness and improve the candidate experience.
  • Recommend starting salaries, in partnership with the Compensation team, conduct thorough reference checks, and deliver and negotiate offers.
  • Coordinate timely hiring processing in partnership with the Senior Talent Acquisition Coordinator.
  • Research ways to attract new candidates and develop innovative sourcing strategies to enhance diverse candidate pools for current and future openings.
  • Drive equity and inclusion at every stage of the talent acquisition process.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to AAP requirements and address any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation related to the AAP.
  • Monitor and report on diversity metrics and outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (required); a combination of post-secondary coursework along with significant work experience (5+ years) and/or certifications may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Talent Acquisition/Human Resources, with demonstrated knowledge and experience executing current practices in full cycle recruitment.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in managing affirmative action plans.
  • Knowledge of human resources full cycle recruitment.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of talent acquisition.
  • Knowledge of equal employment opportunity principles and guidelines as it pertains to talent acquisition and candidate experience.
  • Possess a deep understanding of talent acquisition, diversity, and inclusion practices.
  • Skilled in using applicant tracking systems and reporting.
  • Experience that supports the establishment and maintenance of positive working relationships with diverse constituents.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
  • Highly organized and willing to learn.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and function independently and effectively under heavy workloads and during peak periods.
  • Demonstrate a high level of resourcefulness, diplomacy, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR certification (such as PHR or SHRM-CP) and/or master's degree in HR, business, counseling, organizational development or related field.
