About the position

The Talent Acquisition & Compensation Specialist plays a crucial role in the Human Resources department of Sarasota County Government, focusing on full-cycle recruitment and supporting the Classification & Compensation division. This position involves collaborating with various county departments to develop effective recruitment strategies, conducting interviews, and managing compensation reviews to ensure equity and compliance with policies. The specialist will also represent the county at career fairs and community events, enhancing employment opportunities and awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with county departments to understand recruitment needs and develop strategies.
  • Build job descriptions and postings, recommending external advertisement resources.
  • Review applicant resumes and conduct phone screens with qualified candidates.
  • Participate in interview panels for high-level and priority positions.
  • Assist departments with strategic workforce planning and organizational design projects.
  • Represent Sarasota County at career fairs and community outreach events.
  • Identify and implement streamlined procedures for the applicant tracking and onboarding system.
  • Support and onboard external candidates and internal job changes, including background checks and verifications.
  • Direct complex classification studies and position audits for job group assignments.
  • Conduct compensation reviews and develop salary recommendations for new hires and promotions.
  • Analyze salary survey data to develop competitive compensation structures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional-level related experience in HR for Tier II; six years for Tier III, including recruitment and sourcing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with classification and compensation, including conducting salary surveys.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
