About the position

The Talent Acquisition & Compensation Specialist plays a crucial role in providing full-cycle recruitment for various departments within Sarasota County Government. This position also supports the Classification & Compensation division, focusing on developing effective recruitment strategies and ensuring equitable compensation practices. The specialist will collaborate with departments, conduct interviews, and represent the county at community events, while also managing classification studies and compensation reviews to maintain market competitiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with county departments to understand needs and develop successful recruitment and compensation strategies.
  • Build job descriptions and job postings and recommend external advertisement resources.
  • Review applicant resumes to determine the best fit for positions and conduct phone screens with qualified candidates.
  • Participate in interview panels for high-level and priority positions.
  • Assist departments with strategic workforce planning and organizational design projects.
  • Represent Sarasota County at career fairs and community outreach events to enhance employment opportunity awareness.
  • Identify and implement streamlined procedures for the county's applicant tracking and onboarding system.
  • Support and onboard external candidates and internal job changes with background checks and verifications.
  • Direct complex classification studies and position audits to recommend proper assignment of positions to job groups and pay grades.
  • Conduct compensation reviews to develop salary recommendations and ensure equity and compliance with County policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional-level related experience in HR, including recruitment, advertising, and sourcing (Tier II).
  • Six years of professional-level related experience in HR, including recruitment, advertising, and sourcing (Tier III).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with classification and compensation including conducting salary surveys and assigning appropriate pay levels.
  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
