About the position

The Talent Acquisition Manager for Executive Education at Harvard Business School (HBS) plays a crucial role in supporting the recruitment and retention of top talent within the organization. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, this position is integral to the HBS Executive Education (ExEd) HR team, which supports over 200 full-time staff members. The Manager is responsible for implementing a recruitment strategy that aligns with the business strategy of ExEd, ensuring that the right people are placed in the right roles at the right time. This involves collaborating with hiring managers, HBS Human Resources, and the ExEd HR team to administer various HR processes effectively. In this role, the Manager will lead recruitment and outreach efforts, overseeing all hiring activities, including reviewing resumes, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and managing assessments and reference checks. The Manager will also assist in developing and implementing diversity recruiting initiatives to meet affirmative action hiring goals. Additionally, the position requires the development and implementation of advertising and recruitment strategies, tracking hiring timeframes, and recommending process adjustments as necessary. The Manager will serve on the HBS HR Talent Acquisition Partners team, staying updated on best practices in recruitment. The role also involves educating hiring managers on HR policies, managing various processes and forms related to candidate tracking, and partnering with the Director and Assistant Director of ExEd HR to evaluate and improve the talent management strategy. The Manager will analyze trends related to staff retention and turnover to forecast hiring needs and keep leadership informed of changing recruitment metrics and practices. A key aspect of this position is fostering an environment that attracts and retains a diverse and engaged talent pool. The Manager may also assist in recruiting for positions in the HBS Online department and is responsible for other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment and outreach efforts in partnership with hiring managers and HBS HR.
  • Oversee hiring activities including reviewing resumes, screening candidates, and conducting interviews.
  • Administer appropriate assessments and reference checks for candidates.
  • Develop and implement diversity recruiting initiatives to support affirmative action hiring goals.
  • Create and implement advertising and recruitment strategies; track hiring timeframes and recommend process adjustments.
  • Serve on the HBS HR Talent Acquisition Partners team to stay updated on best practices.
  • Educate hiring managers on HR policies and procedures.
  • Manage candidate tracking forms and HBS HR's hiring software.
  • Partner with the Director and Assistant Director of ExEd HR to evaluate and improve the talent management strategy.
  • Analyze and track trends related to staff retention and turnover to forecast hiring needs.
  • Keep leadership informed of changing recruitment metrics and practices.
  • Foster an environment that attracts and retains a diverse and engaged talent pool.
  • Assist in recruiting for positions in the HBS Online department as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience in human resources or talent acquisition.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in human resources, talent acquisition, or related higher education administration capacity required.
  • Recruiting experience is required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective relationship management skills to effect change in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong sense of priorities and ability to handle various job openings simultaneously.
  • Sound judgment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with difficult conversations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education administration is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures in a university setting.
