About the position

SmartStop Self Storage is a diversified real estate company in the self-storage industry, operating in 24 states in the U.S. and three provinces in Canada. In addition, SmartStop was awarded: Newsweeks Best Customer Service among Storage Center companies three years in a row 2021, 2022 & 2023, Top Workplace of Orange County, CA in 2022 and 2023, and Reputations 800 Award in 2023. This position is 100% on site in our beautiful Ladera Ranch Office. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, the Talent Acquisition Manager will oversee the full-cycle recruitment process for the company including, but not limited to, further development of effective recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified talent, implementing best practices, and implementing new tools to assist our field staffing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
  • Creates job postings that are in brand and attractive to applicants.
  • Screens applications and assists in selecting qualified candidates.
  • Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
  • Assists with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers, directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the hiring managers and/or People & Culture staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
  • Subject matter expert for the applicant tracking system.
  • Collaborates with Marketing to utilize social media platforms to attract top talent.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with both corporate hires and multi-site location/retail hires.
  • Must have placed for accounting positions and have deep ties/connections to Accountants in Orange County, CA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent people skills with good negotiation tactics.
  • 5+ years managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process required.
  • Proven experience creating and implementing sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Works well independently and with a team.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
  • Bachelors degree in HR or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • SHRM Certified a HUGE plus!
