About the position

The Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist at Malcolm X College is responsible for implementing strategic recruiting and onboarding processes for faculty and non-faculty roles. This role involves managing the recruitment lifecycle, collaborating with HR staff and campus leaders, and ensuring a diverse and inclusive hiring process. The specialist will also provide training and guidance to hiring managers, develop job postings, and maintain communication with candidates throughout the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with hiring managers and HR staff to understand talent needs and create recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinate and lead recruitment strategies for critical and hard-to-fill positions.
  • Plan and maintain successful onboarding processes for new employees, including orientations and workshops.
  • Consult with hiring managers to ensure timely and effective onboarding of new hires and promotions.
  • Train hiring managers on hiring best practices and interviewing skills.
  • Conduct intake sessions with hiring managers to review roles and interview processes.
  • Develop concise job postings and critical success factors for positions with HR and hiring managers.
  • Screen, interview, and recommend candidates for various job levels.
  • Coach hiring managers throughout the search and selection process.
  • Serve as a liaison to senior leaders and outside agencies regarding recruitment programs.
  • Utilize the Taleo system to manage the hiring process and maintain communication with candidates.
  • Advise management on recruitment and staffing procedures and strategies.
  • Assist HR team as needed and complete special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in a strategic recruiting role with an emphasis on recruitment or talent acquisition administration.
  • Experience in Human Resources or customer service preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification desirable.
  • Experience in higher education or public sector employment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and success in executing the full-cycle recruiting process.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, employment laws, and best practices in talent acquisition.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
