About the position

Covenant Health is seeking a full-time Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team at 100 Fort Sanders West Boulevard, Knoxville, TN. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for full-cycle recruitment for various positions within our healthcare system, ensuring that we attract and retain the best talent to meet our current and future workforce needs. This role involves developing and implementing effective recruiting strategies, sourcing candidates, screening applicants, and coordinating interviews with hiring managers. The Specialist will work closely with hiring managers, human resource staff, senior leadership, and external vendors to ensure that our recruitment practices align with the organization's goals and objectives. In this role, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will establish recruiting requirements by studying organizational plans and objectives, meeting with managers to discuss their needs, and developing a comprehensive understanding of the job families for which recruitment is conducted. The Specialist will post job positions on our applicant tracking system and other relevant sourcing websites, ensuring timely and effective outreach to potential candidates. Additionally, the Specialist will maintain a pipeline of active job seekers, conduct phone screens and interviews, and provide evaluations to hiring managers. The position also involves promoting Covenant Health as an “Employer of Choice” and improving the organization's attractiveness by emphasizing its benefits and strengths. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records related to specific openings, consulting with hiring managers on compensation and offers, and ensuring a smooth handoff to human resources staff for onboarding after job offers are accepted. This role requires local travel and participation in community recruitment activities, as well as a commitment to achieving hiring goals and objectives. The Specialist will also engage in quality improvement initiatives and complete required education assignments annually, contributing to the overall success of the recruitment team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organizations plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs.
  • Assists in the development of a recruitment strategy and identifies appropriate methods to source candidates in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the job families for which recruitment is done.
  • Posts positions on applicant tracking system and on additional sourcing websites as needed, in a timely manner.
  • Determines applicant requirements by job description and job qualifications.
  • Builds Applicant Sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, social media as well as candidates who apply via the applicant tracking system.
  • Participates in community recruitment/employment activities.
  • Maintains a pipeline of active job seekers.
  • Reviews applications ensuring only those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications per the job description are screened and referred on to the hiring manager for consideration.
  • Conducts phone screens, interviews, evaluates, and refers qualified internal and external candidates to hiring managers to fill vacancies utilizing excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Provides verbal and written candidate evaluations to hiring managers.
  • Improves organization's attractiveness by emphasizing benefits and strengths of the organization.

  • Arranges manager interviews by coordinating schedules utilizing the managers' calendar.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with hiring managers, HR specialists and facility leaders.
  • Meets routinely with hiring managers to discuss vacancies.
  • Responds to hiring manager questions, provides advice regarding recruiting sources, candidate qualifications, and interviewing techniques.
  • Interprets and administers Covenant Health policies and procedures.
  • Creates 'hot lists' of hard-to-fill positions and immediately interviews candidates who are qualified for these positions.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records relating to specific openings within legal guidelines.
  • Properly dispositions candidates in the applicant tracking system.
  • Consults with hiring managers and compensation representatives to prepare appropriate offers.
  • Extends offers to selected candidates and uses appropriate closing techniques to achieve a high acceptance rate.
  • Communicates with Human Resources departments on position openings and updates.
  • After job offers are accepted, ensures timely and thorough hand off to appropriate human resources staff for onboarding.
  • Develops an understanding of Covenant lines of business, positions, and competitors and identifies 'selling points' to present to candidates.
  • Obtains and sustains required fill rates, as outlined by the recruitment leadership team.
  • Tracks hiring activity, including job posting, hiring decisions and closing position vacancies.
  • May participate in new hire orientation and answers new hire questions.
  • Develops knowledge of Talent Acquisition, employment practices, local and federal employment regulations and general HR practices.
  • Conducts 30-60-90 day follow-up with new hires.
  • Local travel required.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Completes required education assignments annually.
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' recruiting or interviewing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of people.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility to meet varying customer needs and to juggle multiple priorities daily.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Basic personal computer and word processing skills.
  • Knowledge of employment law and Human Resources.
  • Valid Tennessee driver's license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a directly-related field from an accredited college or university.
