About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist position at the Municipality of Anchorage is a vital role within the Human Resources- Employment Services Division. Under the general direction of the Employment Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the recruitment and layoff processes throughout the Municipality. This includes preparing and posting vacancy announcements, receiving, evaluating, screening, and referring qualified applicants for various Municipal vacancies. The specialist will also be tasked with making employment offers and ensuring that all pre-employment requirements are completed satisfactorily. Additionally, the role involves notifying unsuccessful applicants, reviewing and evaluating screening and testing devices, and representing the Municipality at public meetings, job fairs, and other recruitment events. The position may also require performing other related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the employment services provided by the Municipality. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located at City Hall, 632 W 6th Avenue, Anchorage, AK. This is a non-represented position, meaning it does not have union affiliation and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. The role is open to the general public as well as current Municipal employees, providing an opportunity for a diverse range of applicants to contribute to the Municipality's workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post vacancy announcements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and six (6) years of human resources experience.
  • OR an Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and four (4) years of human resources experience.
  • OR a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline and two (2) years of human resources experience.
  • Must possess and/or obtain a satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at the time of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public sector recruitment.
  • Familiarity with E-Verify and background check processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
