About the position

Empire State University is seeking a dedicated Talent Acquisition Specialist to join the Office of Human Resources in Saratoga Springs, NY. This role is pivotal in supporting university-wide recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring that the institution attracts and retains top talent. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, possess excellent independent judgment, and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the recruitment process. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for developing strong working relationships across all organizational levels, working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong analytical and decision-making skills are essential, as is a commitment to quality and customer service orientation. The responsibilities of the Talent Acquisition Specialist encompass managing the full cycle of the employee recruitment process. This includes reviewing search requisitions, posting job openings, guiding hiring managers and search committees, reviewing search materials, communicating with applicants, and closing out the search process. The Specialist will also partner with the Senior HR Generalist and the Chief Diversity Officer to review recruitment policies and procedures, ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are prioritized throughout the recruitment and hiring practices. Additionally, the Specialist will represent the university at job fairs and recruiting events, coordinate contracts with external recruitment vendors, and continuously review and revise recruitment policies to ensure compliance with college, federal, New York State, and SUNY guidelines. The role also involves coordinating, monitoring, and tracking university-wide HR mandated training, as well as assisting the Office of Human Resources staff with various university-wide initiatives and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of employee recruitment process including reviewing search requisitions, posting jobs, guiding hiring managers and search committees, reviewing search materials, communication with applicants, and closing out the search process.
  • Partner with and support the Sr. HR Generalist and the Chief Diversity Officer in ongoing review of recruitment policy development and search committee procedures to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Represent the university at job fairs and recruiting events.
  • Coordinate contracts and build relationships with external recruitment vendors.
  • Ongoing review and revision of recruitment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with college, federal, NYS, and SUNY guidelines.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and track university-wide HR mandated training.
  • Assist OHR staff with university-wide initiatives and communication.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years' experience in Human Resources; OR a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience directly related to recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Ability to maintain confidential/sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical, computer, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web-based systems.

Nice-to-haves
