The specialist will manage full-cycle recruitment processes, ensuring a seamless experience for candidates and hiring managers alike. In this role, the specialist will conduct weekly meetings with the multi-facility skilled trades recruitment team to align on hiring needs and strategies. Collaboration with Roanoke hiring managers and the Human Development (HD) department is essential to understand specific hiring requirements and to execute effective interview and selection procedures. This includes conducting screening calls, assessments, and in-person interviews, while maintaining thorough recruitment records to share with key stakeholders. The specialist is also responsible for ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process. Data analysis is a significant component of this role, as the specialist will compile and analyze data to project hiring increases and develop strategic plans for upcoming hiring events. Tracking the retention and performance of new hires during their first 90 days is critical to ensure quality hires and to make informed decisions regarding recruitment strategies. Continuous evaluation and improvement of hiring processes and techniques will be necessary to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, with a focus on building diverse and qualified teams. Additionally, the specialist will assist in internal promotions by conducting interviews for bid jobs as per the union contract, ensuring a fair selection process. Branding and community engagement initiatives will also fall under the specialist's purview, including managing Metalsa's branding efforts within the community and through digital platforms. The specialist will develop a calendar of branding and recruitment events that yield a positive return on investment (ROI) for Metalsa Roanoke and will track and report on the effectiveness of these recruitment efforts. Administrative support and additional responsibilities may be assigned to ensure seamless talent acquisition operations, and the specialist will work closely with the HD department to meet local operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Handle full-cycle recruitment for hourly production and skilled trades positions.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with the multi-facility skilled trades recruitment team.
  • Collaborate with Roanoke hiring managers and the Human Development (HD) department to understand and meet hiring needs.
  • Plan, execute, and delegate interview and selection procedures, including screening calls, assessments, and in-person interviews.
  • Maintain recruitment records, including interview notes and related paperwork, to share with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure a positive end-to-end candidate hiring process.
  • Compile and analyze data to project hiring increases and develop strategic plans for upcoming hiring events.

  • Any additional recruitment needs, process enhancement, or branding initiatives may be assigned to ensure seamless talent acquisition operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, particularly in hourly and skilled trades recruitment.
  • Strong analytical skills to compile data and project hiring trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with managers and the HD team.
  • Experience in creating and managing branding and community engagement initiatives.
  • Ability to make quick decisions and develop strategic hiring plans.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a rotating calendar of recruitment events and track ROI.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in talent acquisition or a similar role.
