About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Shoe Carnival plays a crucial role in sourcing, attracting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding associates for the corporate office, distribution center, or stores. This position is integral to the recruitment process and will lead functional areas such as recruitment marketing, the electronic I-9 process, temp agency management, and the background check process. The specialist will contribute to the overall success of Shoe Carnival's recruitment strategy by recommending enhancements to processes and systems, ensuring that the company attracts top talent effectively. In this role, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will partner with hiring managers to understand their specific requirements and act as a trusted advisor, providing best practices and guidance throughout the recruitment process. Responsibilities include conducting talent acquisition activities such as sourcing candidates, performing resume and phone screens, and conducting candidate interviews. The specialist will provide candidate summaries and make recommendations on the most qualified candidates for each position. Additionally, the specialist will develop networks and partnerships to actively build a database and pipeline of top-tier talent. They will extend verbal and written employment offers to selected candidates while ensuring appropriate notifications are provided to other candidates. Representing the company at recruiting events, such as college job fairs and hiring events, is also a key responsibility, as is managing social media pages to create content, provide company updates, and maintain comments and reviews. The specialist will also manage the I-9 correction report and resolve any non-compliance issues, conduct new hire onboarding and orientation, and update reports such as employee lists and Recruitment Summary Reports as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Marketing, or related field required.
  • At least 1 year of related HR/Recruiting experience required.
  • Experience with project management and executing recruitment marketing strategies preferred.
  • Knowledge of Human Resource policies, procedures, and governmental regulations preferred.
  • SHRM-CP and/or other related certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent interviewing, networking, and communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Strong creative and technical writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with decision making in recruitment processes.
  • Familiarity with social media management for recruitment purposes.
