About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Volunteers of America Illinois is responsible for fulfilling the organization's hiring goals by managing the full life cycle of the recruiting process. This includes sourcing and screening candidates, coordinating interviews, conducting onboarding, and maintaining employee records, all while ensuring a positive candidate experience. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to employment laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Source candidates using various methods to build a robust candidate pipeline and track recruitment progress.
  • Screen candidates by reviewing resumes, job applications, and conducting phone screenings.
  • Design and manage job postings and maintain timely communication with applicants.
  • Perform reference checks and comprehensive background checks on candidates offered positions.
  • Stay updated on recruiting trends and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations during the hiring process.
  • Conduct thorough orientations for new employees and continuously improve the onboarding process.
  • Collaborate with Payroll & Employee Benefits Specialist to educate new staff on benefits programs.
  • Maintain employment files and perform random audits for compliance.
  • Assist in training new staff and provide updates on best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of social service experience or relevant field experience.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems.
  • Ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of interview techniques and applicant screening methods.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
