About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Utah Retirement Systems is responsible for managing the recruitment process, which includes recruiting, screening, interviewing, and onboarding qualified candidates. This role requires strong networking and interpersonal skills to build relationships with potential candidates and hiring managers, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws throughout the hiring process. The specialist will also maintain applicant tracking systems and facilitate onboarding activities for new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Perform recruiting, screening, interviewing, staffing, and onboarding of qualified candidates.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships for recruiting purposes.
  • Create and sustain a professional presence on social media for the Office.
  • Develop relationships with vendors to achieve staffing goals.
  • Facilitate the recruiting and hiring process by preparing job announcements and coordinating schedules.
  • Communicate with applicants and management throughout the hiring process.
  • Conduct reference checks and process background check requests.
  • Communicate employment information during the delivery of offers.
  • Facilitate and monitor onboarding activities for new hires.
  • Post jobs on various agencies and social media sites.
  • Attend career fairs and research new sources for candidate recruiting.
  • Generate an internal database of viable candidates.
  • Assist with planning and execution of employee events.
  • Provide backup to other HR functions as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and one year of experience in recruiting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Human Resources is preferred.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and selection procedures.
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws relating to hiring practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience with social media management for recruitment purposes.
