About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Shoe Carnival is responsible for sourcing, attracting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding associates for the corporate office, distribution center, or stores. This role also involves leading functional areas such as recruitment marketing, managing the electronic I-9 process, temp agency management, and overseeing the background check process. The specialist contributes to the overall success of the recruitment strategy by recommending enhancements and partnering with hiring managers to meet their staffing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Source, attract, interview, hire, and onboard associates for various locations.
  • Lead functional areas such as recruitment marketing and temp agency management.
  • Recommend process and system enhancements to improve recruitment strategy.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their requirements and provide best practices.
  • Conduct talent acquisition activities including sourcing candidates and performing interviews.
  • Provide candidate summaries and recommendations on qualified candidates.
  • Develop networks to build a pipeline of top-tier talent.
  • Extend verbal and written employment offers to selected candidates.
  • Represent the company at recruiting events and build relationships.
  • Manage social media pages for recruitment purposes.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation, ensuring clarity in procedures and policies.
  • Update reports such as employee lists and Recruitment Summary Reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Marketing, or related field required.
  • At least 1 year of related HR/Recruiting experience required.
  • Experience with project management and recruitment marketing preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and governmental regulations preferred.
  • SHRM-CP and/or other related certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent interviewing, networking, and communication skills.
  • Strong creative and technical writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with decision making in recruitment processes.
  • Familiarity with social media management for recruitment.
