About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Union College is responsible for developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies to attract and hire top talent for various positions within the college. This role involves managing the full-cycle recruitment process, collaborating with department heads, and promoting the college as an employer of choice, with a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Write and post job descriptions on appropriate job boards and social media platforms.
  • Proactively source candidates through networking, employee referrals, and job fairs.
  • Review applications and conduct initial phone screens for select searches.
  • Coordinate and participate in interview processes, providing recommendations to hiring managers.
  • Work closely with department heads to understand staffing needs and provide guidance.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience through regular communication and timely feedback.
  • Implement strategies to attract a diverse candidate pool and promote inclusive hiring practices.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and track key metrics to assess recruitment effectiveness.
  • Promote the college's employer brand by highlighting its culture and values.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding recruitment practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovative recruitment techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, preferably in higher education.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (Workday) and HRIS.
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to inform recruitment strategies.
