About the position

The Talent Acquisition Specialist position at the Metropolitan Council is an entry-level role within the Talent Management team, responsible for routine recruitment and selection processes for bus and rail transportation hiring. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that high-quality candidates apply for vacancies, particularly for bus operator and train operator roles. As the incumbent gains experience with the Council's policies, practices, and legal requirements, the complexity of recruitment assignments may increase. The role involves administering recruitment processes according to established procedures, assisting the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist with various administrative tasks, and coordinating communication with hiring managers and applicants to provide timely and accurate information regarding their status and the selection process. In this position, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will also coordinate the interview process, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations. The role requires completing pre-hire steps for selected candidates, ensuring that salary approvals are obtained and that candidates meet all position requirements. The position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for both remote and onsite work, and may require occasional evening and weekend work as business needs arise. This posting will create a six-month eligibility list for current and future openings, providing a pathway for career advancement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer routine recruitment and selection processes according to procedures ensuring high-quality candidates apply for vacancies.
  • Assist the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist with administrative efforts associated with recruitment and selection efforts, including testing, data entry, scheduling of appointments, and answering questions.
  • Coordinate the selection process according to procedures to ensure compliance with relevant rules, regulations, contracts, and the non-represented plan.
  • Coordinate communication with hiring managers and applicants to ensure timely, accurate information regarding their status, the position, and/or the process.
  • Coordinate the interview process to ensure procedures are followed.
  • Complete pre-hire steps on a selected candidate to ensure salary is approved and the candidate meets all requirements of the position.
  • Comply with and follow policies, procedures, personnel law, and legal requirement compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and six (6) or more years of related human resources experience.
  • Associate's degree and four (4) or more years of related human resources experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher and two (2) or more years of experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with full-cycle recruitment and selection.
  • Experience with hiring bus operators or candidates with Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs).
  • Experience working within the public sector, government agency, or public education.
  • Experience with NeoGov electronic applicant tracking system.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Human Resources Information System.
  • Experience with Spark Hire video interviewing software.
  • Outreach to cross-cultural communities developing relationships with community members from diverse backgrounds, including race, ethnicity, economic status, and ability.
