The Talent Acquisition Specialist at Rutgers University plays a crucial role in developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent for the institution. This position involves consulting with various departments to address staffing needs, advising hiring managers, and managing the recruitment process from sourcing candidates to onboarding. The specialist is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace while ensuring compliance with employment laws and university policies.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with client departments to develop recruitment strategies for current and upcoming vacancies.
  • Act as an advisor and collaborate with hiring managers to develop sourcing plans.
  • Develop messaging to attract top candidates.
  • Identify challenges in recruitment and advise departments on revisions to hiring practices.
  • Evaluate candidates' experience and credentials for relevance to open positions.
  • Build and foster relationships with university career services and student organizations to build talent pipelines.
  • Determine effective sources and approaches to build talent pipelines and execute strategies.
  • Apply University policy for background check requirements and evaluate pre-employment screening needs.
  • Negotiate offers and construct offer letters.
  • Initiate and monitor onboarding processes.
  • Create, manage, and maintain job postings via Applicant Tracking System.
  • Manage client relations and escalations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with hiring teams regarding recruitment status and updates in the Applicant Tracking System.
  • Serve as the liaison between management, staff, and applicants regarding employment policies and practices.
  • Provide guidance to hiring managers and administrative staff in handling staffing transactions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Two years of relevant experience in human resource management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to identify issues and partner with internal stakeholders to resolve them proactively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of experience in talent acquisition, recruitment, staffing, and onboarding including compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience in a labor environment.
