About the position

The Talent Engagement and Onboarding Specialist at Volunteers of America Eastern Washington is responsible for driving recruitment and onboarding processes to attract and support individuals aligned with the organization's mission and values. This role focuses on creating an inclusive environment, fostering a culture of empathy and respect, and ensuring a smooth transition for new hires into the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and job requirements.
  • Source and attract top talent through various channels, including job boards, social media, and networking.
  • Conduct initial screenings and coordinate interviews.
  • Design and implement an engaging onboarding program that helps new hires acclimate to the company culture and values.
  • Facilitate orientation sessions and training for new employees.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork and pre-employment checks are completed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with new hires to ensure their transition is smooth and welcoming.
  • Gather new employees' onboarding experience feedback to improve the process continuously.
  • Assist in organizing team-building activities and engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment and onboarding processes in the HR system.
  • Prepare reports on onboarding metrics and provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with HR team members and department leaders to align onboarding strategies with business objectives.
  • Act as a point of contact for new hires, addressing questions and concerns during their onboarding journey.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse candidates and staff.
  • Ability to think outside the box to drive innovative solutions that support our mission.
  • Demonstrated dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS), with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
