About the position

The Talent Generalist is a pivotal role within the Human Resources department, primarily responsible for fostering a culture of exceptional client service. This position encompasses a wide range of HR functions, including the administration and coordination of onboarding and offboarding processes, performance management, compliance, and employee engagement. The Talent Generalist will work closely with the Talent Manager and collaborate with the broader Talent team across national office locations to ensure seamless integration and support for new hires and existing employees. In terms of onboarding and offboarding, the Talent Generalist will create and manage schedules for new business professionals, ensuring that all necessary hardware and software are provided in collaboration with IT. This role also involves maintaining accurate records in the UKG system, overseeing the completion of new hire paperwork, and guiding exiting employees through the departure process. Compliance is another critical aspect of this position, where the Talent Generalist will monitor labor law changes, ensure adherence to I-9 and E-Verify requirements, and facilitate annual discrimination and harassment training for all employees. Employee engagement and retention are key responsibilities, including conducting HR orientations, 60-day check-ins, and exit interviews to analyze trends and improve processes. The Talent Generalist will also coordinate recognition efforts and oversee milestone anniversary gifts. Performance management duties include drafting timelines for evaluations and assisting with the configuration of evaluation systems. Overall, the Talent Generalist plays a crucial role in enhancing the employee experience, ensuring compliance, and supporting the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage onboarding and orientation scheduling for business professionals in collaboration with the hiring manager.
  • Develop and coordinate individualized orientation and onboarding schedules for all new business professionals.
  • Communicate finalized orientation schedules with new hires.
  • Coordinate with IT to get new hires the necessary hardware and software.
  • Maintain UKG and new hire database.
  • Coordinate with the Talent Administrative Assistant on new hire gifts.
  • Add new hires to the HR systems and ensure new hire paperwork is completed, including Form I9 and E-verify.
  • Provide oversight and point of escalation support to the Talent Administrative Assistant for attorney onboarding and integration.
  • Partner with firm members to ensure their new hire curriculum and integration plan templates are up to date and content is engaging.
  • Maintain onboarding processes in UKG to ensure compliance.
  • Regularly track, research, and identify opportunities for process improvements to orientation, onboarding, and integration activities.
  • Guide exiting employees through the departure checklist and complete follow-up administrative tasks such as UKG and database updates.
  • Provide oversight and point of escalation for personnel file, Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance; ensure regular auditing is taking place.
  • Monitor labor law changes and make intermittent policy updates throughout the year.
  • Distribute and maintain physical and electronic labor law posters.
  • Execute 100% participation of firmwide annual discrimination and harassment training via online learning platform.
  • Conduct HR orientation for all new hires.
  • Conduct 60-day check-ins with business professionals; analyze data and report trends on a quarterly basis.
  • Conduct exit interviews with business professionals; analyze data and report trends on a quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate quarterly Distinguished Service Award recognition efforts.
  • Oversee Longevity/Milestone anniversary gifts.
  • Oversee the coordination and scheduling of New Associate Bootcamp for Associates annually.
  • Draft timeline and communications for annual business professional performance evaluation process.
  • Assist with ViEval system configuration for annual business professional evaluation process and attorney year-end evaluation process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 4+ years of experience in related HR functions such as onboarding, integration, compliance and/or employee engagement.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Initiative to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to act independently within scope of the position's responsibilities, meet deadlines and remain flexible.
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to work as a team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and composure in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of viDesktop software and UKG is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR certification a plus, but not required.
  • Prior experience in a legal services or professional environment preferred.
