About the position

As a Talent Senior Manager within BCG's Knowledge Team (KT), you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities and development of TA KT Managers. The Knowledge Team is integral to BCG's global Industry and Functional Practice businesses, providing expertise and support across various client engagements. Your primary focus will be on fostering leadership and team development among TA KT Managers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and support to thrive in their roles. This includes offering personalized coaching, mentoring, and strategic guidance tailored to their individual and team development objectives. In this role, you will collaborate closely with TA KT Managers to assess the developmental needs of their team members, identifying skills gaps and recommending targeted actions to facilitate career progression. You will also advise on available learning resources and suggest developmental actions such as case staffing and networking opportunities. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding TA KT Managers and their teams throughout their career lifecycle, helping them navigate potential career paths within BCG and beyond. Additionally, you will provide insights to KT leadership regarding developmental needs and trends, ensuring that the support offered is aligned with the evolving requirements of the team. By partnering with various teams within BCG, including HR and Learning & Development, you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the Knowledge Team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide development support to TA KT Managers
  • Support TA KT Managers in their individual development; offering 1:1 coaching, mentoring and thought partnership related to their Leadership, commercial and team development objectives
  • Work with TA KT Managers in assessing the developmental needs of their team members, advising on KT competency gaps and skills to accelerate their career progression
  • Advise TA KT Managers on skills gaps and learning needs, defining solutions with KT Managers, KT Learning & Development and other BCG capabilities
  • Provide career growth support to TA KT Managers and staff
  • Build and maintain relationships with TA KT Managers (primarily) and staff (occasionally) to understand their background and career professional aspirations
  • Advise on available learning resources, aligned with developmental needs and career trajectory
  • Explore and suggest other developmental actions such as case staffing, external exposure, networking, senior stakeholder engagement, etc.
  • Coach and guide TA KT throughout their career lifecycle on options and opportunities (potential moves to Client Focus KT career path, or to other roles within BCG etc.); act as a trusted advisor to guide individuals to outcomes beneficial to the individual and the business
  • Advise KT Managers on Career Development (CD) activities
  • Provide guidance to TA KT Managers on Career Development activities e.g. help them interpret feedback and advise on developmental implications for themselves and their team
  • Provide guidance and quality assurance (where requested) to KT Managers on individual CD dossiers, ensuring best practice and clear messaging to individuals
  • Deliver insight to KT Leadership and People Management Team
  • Provide visibility to KT business leadership, KT HR Leadership and KT Learning & Development about KT TA developmental needs; recognize patterns, so that offers are adapted and enhanced accordingly
  • Work with KT HR, KT Learning & Development and Career Development teams to determine broader needs around learning, expertise building, and career growth
  • When identifying employee relations issues, partner with Regional HR and KT Managers to address and resolve

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced Degree (Masters, MBA, JD, PhD, etc.) preferred
  • Deep understanding of the consulting business is required
  • Experience having delivered billable professional services, ideally in an expertise-based consulting team or organization, is highly desirable
  • Strong interest and some experience in professional/leadership development
  • Strong interest and experience in coaching
  • Experience in Consulting, a Knowledge function, or other client-facing roles is a plus
  • Fluent in English
