About the position

Join the thrilling world of Busch Gardens Tampa's Howl-O-Scream 2024 as a Scare Actor! This part-time position invites you to become a vital part of our scare acting team, where your primary role will be to perform as various characters designed to startle and scare our guests. As a Scare Actor, you will engage in a variety of performances that may include standing, walking, and other physically demanding activities for extended periods, sometimes up to two hours at a time. You will be required to wear costumes and makeup provided by Busch Gardens Tampa, which will remain the property of the park. This role is not just about scaring guests; it also involves maintaining a safe and tidy work environment, clocking in and out for your shifts, and taking direction from supervisors. You will be working in a dynamic environment that includes both indoor and outdoor settings, exposing you to various weather conditions and atmospheric effects such as strobe lighting and dim lighting. Your availability will play a crucial role in your employment offer and role placement, as many positions require you to work during event nights, typically from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Responsibilities

• Performing as characters to startle and scare guests at Busch Gardens Tampa Howl-O-Scream.
• Consistently performing multiple scares repetitively throughout the night of the event, which may involve strenuous physical activity.
• Being responsible for clocking in and out at the beginning and end of assigned shifts.
• Taking and implementing direction from persons of authority.
• Maintaining a tidy and safe work area.
• Working well with a diverse group of co-workers.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be available to work potentially between 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM on rehearsal and event nights.
• Must be available majority of event nights.
• Ability to perform assigned character for up to 2 hours at a time.
• Ability to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching overhead.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in performance or acting roles is preferred but not mandatory.
