About the position

Great Western Trailer (GWT) is seeking a full-time Tank Technician to join their team in Oklahoma City, OK. The role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining tanks in compliance with Department of Transportation and ASTM regulations. The position offers a weekday work schedule and a range of benefits, making it an attractive opportunity for skilled technicians.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and repair tanks and trailers in accordance with FHWA, FMCSA, DOT HM183, and hazmat standards.
• Work on pneumatic and hydraulic control systems, product pumps, and piping.
• Repair suspension and wheel end components, including air brake lines, couplers, and valves.
• Perform preventative maintenance on various types of trailers.
• Install add-on components and accessories, including toolboxes and pumping systems.
• Conduct aluminum, steel MIG & TIG welding and fabrication, including in confined spaces.
• Prepare Mechanic's Service Reports and complete necessary testing paperwork.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience servicing tank vehicles.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
• Ownership of a personal set of hand tools.
• Broad knowledge of semi-trailer equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools used in fabrication and welding.
• Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures and service guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

• 3 years' experience servicing tank vehicles.
• Tank, ASE, or other industry-recognized certifications.
• Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
• Welding certification.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.
