About the position

The position involves demonstrating and teaching driving skills and techniques in accordance with Schneider Training Academy guidelines. The role includes facilitating on-the-job training, recognizing unsafe driving habits, providing feedback, and evaluating candidates' performance. The instructor will also complete annual re-certification and meet DOT requirements while maintaining a professional demeanor that aligns with Schneider's values.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate and teach driving skills and techniques according to Schneider Training Academy guidelines.
• Facilitate on-the-job, in-truck training using electronic tablets and Schneider's workflow system.
• Recognize and correct unsafe driving habits.
• Provide verbal and written feedback and suggestions for improvement.
• Evaluate and provide updates on candidates not meeting expected levels of ability within set timelines.
• Complete annual Schneider instructor re-certification process and meet DOT requirements.
• Utilize and assign electronic computer-based training to driver students.
• Exhibit professional behavior that aligns with Schneider values and standards.

Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• DOT physical card.
• Minimum 12 months of Class A driving experience.
• Tanker endorsement required at time of hire.
• HazMat endorsement required after starting, with training provided.
• Ability to coach and mentor effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrate a positive, professional attitude and willingness to accept change.
• Ability to learn, demonstrate, and train Schneider's company policies and procedures.
• Experience in Word, Excel, and other computer-based systems is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous instructor/training experience preferred.
• Live within 60 miles of Houston, TX.
