Responsibilities
- Compliance with the Company's MS requirements related to the position
- The safekeeping of a navigation watch when the vessel is at sea or as delegated by the Master
- At sea, outside his watch, the maintenance and upkeep of deck and engine room, life-saving, fire-fighting and safety equipment
- Ensure all safety equipment is positioned according to the ship-approved Safety Plan
- Maintain all lifeboats and associated equipment, including life rafts, to the Company's standard
- Note, log, and act upon expiry and renewal dates of safety equipment
- Maintain, test, and keep charged fire extinguishers at all times
- Update Muster Lists, Station Bills and individuals' Station Bills / Bunk Cards as instructed by the Master
- Assist the 2nd Officer with chart and publication corrections as designated by the Master
- Co-operate with Master in maintaining a safe environment in accordance with the Company's Health Safety, Quality and Environmental policies
- Have a working knowledge of the Company's VRP, SMPEP, Waste Management guidelines, Ballast Water Management Plan and Vessel Security Plan
