About the position

The Tapeout Engineering Biz Apps & Data Intern position at GlobalFoundries is designed for students pursuing a degree in computer science or electrical engineering. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on business transformation projects that focus on process optimizations and infrastructure modernization within the semiconductor industry. Interns will gain hands-on experience with cloud technologies and agile methodologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Working with cross-functional teams to create software solutions.
  • Enabling scalable Electronic Design Automation (EDA) functions in a Cloud environment.
  • Creating data diagrams, data mapping, and process documentation as needed.
  • Conducting data analytics on Tapeout processing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive optimized performance of Cloud Tapeout execution.
  • Architecting and developing Python, Angular, and Java-based software applications in AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

Requirements

  • At least a sophomore at the time of application and actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of creating Data/Entity relationship diagrams and data mapping documentation.
  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Knowledge of writing code using Python/Java and AngularJS technologies.
  • Knowledge of developing applications in AWS utilizing out-of-the-box services.

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proactive with a desire to continuously improve system solutions, documentation, and processes.
  • Knowledge/working with the semiconductor domain (Foundry) is an added plus.
