About the position

The EyeCare Advisor at Target Optical is responsible for delivering exceptional patient service and ensuring high-quality care for all customers. This part-time role focuses on creating a welcoming environment, assisting customers with their optical needs, and providing detailed information about products and services. The position emphasizes strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers promptly upon entry.
  • Determines the reason for the customer's visit and explains relevant procedures.
  • Reviews prescriptions and patient information carefully, consulting with opticians or management as needed.
  • Handles customer inquiries with patience and courtesy, especially with indecisive customers.
  • Processes patient records and orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Operates the POS system and collects payments as required.
  • Maintains the appearance of the store and ensures displays are clean and organized.
  • Demonstrates product knowledge and assists customers in selecting appropriate frames and lenses.
  • Performs pre-examination testing and explains measurements to patients.
  • Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Interpersonal skills that are friendly, caring, and patient.
  • Sales skills and knowledge of store merchandise.
  • Familiarity with cash registers, computers, and calculators.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or optical.
