About the position

The Task Force Leader (TFLD) is responsible for providing fire line supervision in accordance with federal Incident Command System (ICS) requirements. This role involves supervising and directing various resources, including engines, tenders, and firefighters, as part of a defined hand crew. The TFLD serves as a point of contact for the Incident Management Team or Authority Having Jurisdiction in the absence of an Agency Representative.

Responsibilities

• Provide fire line supervision in accordance with federal ICS requirements.
• Supervise and direct WDS and Alliance resources including engines, tenders, and firefighters.
• Act as a point of contact to the Incident Management Team or Authority Having Jurisdiction when necessary.

Requirements

• All required NWCG certificates and Position Task Books for prerequisite qualifications (FFT2, FFT1, ENGB/CRWB, STEN/TFLD).
• ICS qualified at the minimum Strike Team Leader level (TFLD preferred).
• Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130).
• Ability to pass a Work Capacity Test (WCT) at Arduous Level.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Current driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• DOT Medical Examiners Certification (authorized by employer for qualified individuals).
• Valid passport and willingness to work in both the U.S. and Canada for TFLDs and ENGBs hired after 9/19/2024.
