About the position

The Tasting Room Assistant at Rombauer Vineyards plays a crucial role in ensuring a high-quality customer experience in the tasting room. This full-time position involves assisting with the smooth operation of the Retail Sales Room, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The assistant will also support hospitality events and contribute to the overall positive image of the winery.

Responsibilities

• Support tasting and tour areas with glassware, waste removal, wine tasting tools, and literature.
• Assist with preparing the Retail Sales Room for guests.
• Ensure proper opening and closing procedures of the Sales Room and Winery are followed.
• Maintain stocked wine and water refrigerators and retail space throughout the shift.
• Assist guests in the tasting room with retail purchases.
• Maintain orderly warehouse space including breakroom.
• Keep wine and merchandise stocked in the tasting room.
• Create wine and merchandise displays in the tasting room.
• Accurately sample out wine for pours, donations, and breakage.
• Assist in supply monitoring and inventory.
• Notify manager of low stock items and restock supplies as needed.
• Ensure patio and parking lot are free of trash and clean as needed.
• Assist Guest Ambassadors with greeting and checking-in all visitors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
• Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions.
• Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
• Skilled in basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers.
• Required to be at least 21 years of age or older.
• Required to work holidays, evenings, and weekends at various hours.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding and training up to 5% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates degree or equivalent experience in hospitality or customer service.
• Experience in the wine industry.
