About the position

We are a full-service Tax & Accounting firm seeking a CPA or EA with experience in public accounting and tax preparation for small businesses and individuals. The Tax Accountant will prepare tax returns and meet and consult with clients regarding their tax situation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and files annual federal and state income tax returns, quarterly estimates, etc.
  • Prepare financial statements including profit and loss, balance sheet, etc.
  • Respond to tax authority notices for clients
  • Maintains tax calendar for all filing responsibilities to ensure timely filing.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant state/local, federal, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Researches and responds to state/local, federal, and international tax authorities to resolve tax issues for clients.
  • Participates in development and implementation of tax strategy for clients.
  • Assists with general tax accounting.
  • Assists with resolution of income tax audits.
  • Recommends alternative tax treatments to alleviate or reduce tax burden.
  • Coordinates implementation of tax accounting systems and control procedures.
  • Reviews and analyzes the organization's tax accounting operation; recommends improvements.
  • Assists with related special projects as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; CPA or EA licensure required.
  • Three years public accounting tax preparation experience or equivalent.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tax laws.
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Nice-to-haves
