About the position

The Tax Accountant position at Manay CPA involves preparing complex individual and business tax returns, ensuring compliance with US taxation laws, and providing tax planning strategies. The role requires collaboration across departments, mentorship of junior staff, and contributions to client acquisition and retention efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting, excellent communication skills, and the ability to analyze financial data to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex individual and business tax returns, including form 1040, 1120S, 1120, and 1065 returns.
  • Review previous returns and provide tax planning strategies based on client situations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with US taxation laws and regulations, including the timely filing of tax returns and payments.
  • Review other staff's tax returns and provide feedback as needed.
  • Provide tax resolution services and ensure that each case is closed.
  • Research complex tax issues and support other employees and clients through these cases.
  • Understand all aspects of clients' financial operations and assist with consulting as needed.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to derive actionable insights and recommendations aimed at enhancing financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to align financial strategies with business initiatives and strategic objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff, cultivating a supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Contribute to client acquisition and retention efforts, delivering unparalleled customer service at every interaction.
  • Become knowledgeable of firm's pricing model and be able to assist with client acquisition opportunities.
  • Facilitate smooth client onboarding processes for all assigned engagements, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Support other departments and assist with other services, including accounting, as required.
  • Organize and update financial records, both digital and physical, to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Assist in documenting, designing, and testing processes and procedures impacting financial statements or company performance.
  • Drive efficiency by assisting in the automation of systems and spreadsheets to streamline accounting functions and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related; Master's degree is a plus.
  • CPA or EA Designation required.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in tax accounting and preparation.
  • Experience in Public Accounting is preferred.
  • International Tax Law knowledge is a PLUS.
  • Competent with various types of investment income, including the tax treatment of restricted stock, as well as experience with the taxation of real estate activities.
  • Experience with foreign assets and the associated tax reporting a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and/or other accounting software.
  • Experience with UltraTax and/or other tax preparation software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable, able to work independently, and stay on task.

  • Fast learner, ability to master new concepts quickly.
