About the position

The Tax Accountant role at Qualcare, Inc. is a senior contributor position within the CIGNA Tax Department, focusing on statutory accounting operations. This role involves managing tax statutory accounting tasks, supporting audit requests, and participating in tax planning initiatives, all while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for tax statutory accounting including interim and yearend calculations, tie out of annual statements/audited financial statements, and corresponding tax footnote preparation.
• Assist with responses to audit requests from PWC and insurance departments.
• Develop strong working relationships with team members and internal accounting contacts.
• Act as a resource on special projects including support and participation in tax planning initiatives.
• Utilize independent judgment and discretion while working on tax research and special projects.
• Demonstrate ownership of cyclical responsibilities, and the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously during peak periods.
• Actively contribute to building a high performance culture and a positive work environment.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree with a concentration in Accounting
• 2-5 years of Public Accounting or Corporate Tax experience, with a focus on income tax
• Demonstrated competencies in corporate income tax and teamwork
• Knowledge of Accounting, ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109) or Insurance Statutory Accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Exposure to a variety of software applications
