About the position

Daifuku North America, a leading company in the material handling industry, is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant II to join our team in Novi, Michigan. This position plays a crucial role in managing various tax-related responsibilities, including sales tax, personal property tax, business licenses, and 1099s. The Tax Accountant II will report directly to the Tax Senior Manager and will be involved in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions, ensuring compliance with local business license taxes, and supporting audit processes as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate tax, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. In this role, the Tax Accountant II will be responsible for preparing files necessary for sales tax return preparation, maintaining a compliance calendar, and providing audit support. The candidate will also be expected to utilize technology effectively to enhance efficiency in tax processes. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly are essential for success in this position. The Tax Accountant II will work closely with other team members and departments to ensure that all tax-related activities are completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities

  • Prepare files for quarterly tax provision
  • Prepare files necessary for sales tax return preparation and reconciliation
  • Prepare and file local business license taxes
  • Maintain compliance calendar
  • Provide audit support as needed
  • Assist with other projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent
  • 3-4 years experience in a corporate tax department (non-public accounting)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative competencies
  • Ability to multi-task and solve problems
  • Strong organizational, planning and documentation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing corporate income tax returns and/or provision work
  • Experience in filing sales tax returns
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Longview Tax Provision Software is a plus
  • Experience with SAP is a plus

  • CPA not required

  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively even when relating complex information
