About the position

The Tax Accountant at Bowman is responsible for managing various tax-related tasks, including preparing and filing sales & use, personal property tax, and business license applications. This role also involves assisting in the preparation of income tax provisions and returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and supporting the corporate tax team in audits and other tax-related projects. The position emphasizes independence, problem-solving, and effective communication within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file monthly state and local sales & use tax filings.
• Prepare annual personal property tax filings and business license applications.
• Assist in preparing income tax provision and return schedules.
• Compute and prepare quarterly federal, state, and local estimated income taxes.
• Ensure timely filing and online payment of associated taxes.
• Review tax work prepared by accounting clerks and interns.
• Support the corporate tax team in addressing tax audits and controversies.
• Maintain knowledge of current tax laws and regulations.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses and perform other assignments as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• Two or more years of corporate income tax and/or certified public accounting experience required.
• Strong tax research and analytical skills are required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's or MBA degree in Taxation or comparable graduate degree preferred.
• CPA certification (and in good standing) is preferred.
• Experience in multi-state taxation and state tax controversy/audits is a plus.
• Experience with various Tax Compliance and Tax Provisions software is preferred.
• Deltek Vision and Deltek Multicompany experience is a plus.
