About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and tax regulations, with experience in various areas including corporate accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Conduct general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Assist in mergers and acquisitions by providing tax-related insights and compliance support.
• Utilize accounting software for efficient tax preparation and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with clients on wills, trusts, and estate law matters as needed.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations in all accounting practices.
• Write comprehensive financial reports that summarize tax positions and strategies.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations to provide accurate advice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles.
• Experience in corporate accounting practices is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with private equity transactions is a plus.
• Proficient in accounting software applications to streamline processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in tax accounting for at least 5 years.
• Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions.
