About the position

The Tax Accountant position at Delicato Vineyards in Manteca involves performing essential accounting tasks under general supervision. The primary responsibilities include executing beginning to intermediate accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis. The role requires assisting the Company and Accounting managers in researching general ledger activity and departmental spending levels, as well as performing detailed analysis on various General Ledger Accounts to investigate any questionable data. The accountant will be responsible for updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers, and other records that detail financial business transactions. Additionally, the position involves recommending actions to resolve discrepancies and improve current processes or procedures, as well as cross-training in various accounting functions. The accountant will also assist senior accountants and managers/directors with special projects as required, while ensuring the confidentiality of the organization's information. Continuous professional development is encouraged through participation in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Responsibilities

• Perform beginning to intermediate accounting tasks including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist Company and Accounting managers in researching general ledger activity and departmental spending levels.
• Perform analysis on various General Ledger Accounts and investigate questionable data.
• Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions.
• Recommend actions to resolve discrepancies and improve current processes or procedures.
• Cross-train in various accounting functions.
• Assist senior accountants, Managers/Directors with special projects as required.
• Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a Bachelor's degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting is required.
• 2+ years of business experience including general ledger review/analysis, financial statement preparation, and/or bookkeeping duties.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Attention to detail and thoroughness with a deadline-oriented focus is necessary.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word is required.
• Familiarity with an enterprise accounting system (such as SAP) is a plus but not required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SAP report writing and general report writing.
• Ability to build working relationships with company cost center managers.
