About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Accountant to join our dynamic team at TriMerge. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing federal and state corporate, individual, and partnership tax returns, with experience in estate and trust being a plus. The role involves researching tax issues and legislation, interpreting tax codes, and making projections on future tax liabilities to provide client recommendations as part of the tax planning process. Interaction with client personnel regarding tax return information and deadlines is a key aspect of the job, along with keeping the team informed on the status of various engagements. The candidate must stay current on professional announcements and proactively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal and state corporate, individual, and partnership tax returns.
  • Research tax issues and legislation and interpret tax code.
  • Make projections on future tax liabilities based on variable options to make client recommendations as part of the tax planning process.
  • Interact with client personnel regarding tax return information, deadlines, etc., and keep the team informed on status.
  • Keep current on professional announcements and proactively participate in professional development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Must have strong technology skills and be proficient with all aspects of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Drake, ProSeries, Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS, Accounting CS, QuickBooks Online, & Gusto is a plus.
  • Must have working knowledge of accounting and preparing tax returns.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines with accuracy.
  • Ability to learn processes quickly and apply that knowledge to engagements.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in tax accounting.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting; Master's in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
  • CPA or EA License preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with estate and trust tax returns.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Drake, ProSeries, and QuickBooks Online.
