About the position

The Tax Accountant at Triumvirate Environmental will be a key member of the Tax & Compliance Team, responsible for managing multi-state sales and use tax compliance. This role involves preparing and filing tax returns, managing audits, and ensuring the accuracy of the company's tax systems. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and leverage their expertise in tax compliance to support the company's growth and success.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file multiple State Sales and Use tax returns, potentially expanding across all 50 States and Canada.
• Process and ensure timely and accurate tax payments.
• Manage registrations and compliance as the company enters new jurisdictions.
• Oversee Business Licenses renewals throughout the organization.
• Research changes to local/county/state sales and use tax law to maintain compliance.
• Manage the Vertex tax integration to ensure sales tax rules and nexus are current and correct.
• Research and interpret tax compliance issues.
• Manage State Sales and Use audits, collaborating with internal teams to prepare documentation for audits.
• Maintain and manage all Property and Real Estate returns and payments.
• Prepare and file Transporter fees (roadway tax).
• Communicate clearly and precisely with internal stakeholders and clients regarding tax questions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Tax, Accounting, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Sales and Use tax processing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and be detail-oriented.
• Ability to research and interpret tax law.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
• Must have a reliable form of transportation.
