About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager to join our dynamic team in Detroit, Michigan. This role offers the opportunity to work with a talented group of CPAs, providing a solid foundation to advance your career in public accounting. As a Tax Manager, you will handle a mix of tax and accounting responsibilities, managing client relationships, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and supporting our clients' financial health with a range of tax strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement tax strategies to minimise clients' tax liability.
• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns.
• Maintain and review digital workpapers for tax return engagements.
• Draft correspondence, develop spreadsheets, and conduct complex technical tax research.
• Cultivate a deep understanding of clients' businesses and industries, building strong relationships.
• Promote a collaborative, supportive, and respectful office environment.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations; monitor work status to meet deadlines.
• Conduct tax research, providing guidance to clients and partners.
• Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and collaborate with cross-functional teams on accounting treatments.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in tax and accounting regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA certification required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in tax planning and compliance within a public accounting environment, handling individual, trust, corporate, and pass-through tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and GAAP principles.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
