About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our financial services team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tax accounting principles and regulations, with the ability to prepare accurate tax returns and provide insightful financial advice. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with tax laws and assisting clients in effective estate planning and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.
• Conduct thorough tax research to stay updated on current regulations and changes in tax law.
• Assist clients with estate planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial benefits.
• Collaborate with other accounting professionals to support payroll processing and ensure accurate reporting.
• Prepare financial reports that reflect the organization's financial status, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Provide guidance on Securities law compliance as it relates to tax obligations.
• Maintain accurate records of all transactions and ensure proper documentation for audits.
• Participate in SOX compliance initiatives by implementing internal controls related to tax processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting principles, including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations.
• Proficiency in financial report writing with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Experience in payroll processing and understanding of payroll-related taxes.
• Familiarity with estate planning concepts and their implications on taxation.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
