About the position

The Tax Accountant at Delicato Family Wines plays a crucial role in the accounting department, responsible for performing basic accounting tasks under general supervision. This position involves handling journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis, ensuring that financial records are accurate and up-to-date. The accountant will assist both the Company and Accounting managers in researching general ledger activity and departmental spending levels, providing valuable insights into financial operations. In addition to routine accounting tasks, the Tax Accountant will perform analyses on various General Ledger Accounts, investigating any questionable data that may arise. This role requires maintaining and updating accounting journals, ledgers, and other records that detail financial business transactions. The accountant will also recommend actions to resolve discrepancies and improve current processes or procedures, contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function. Cross-training in various accounting functions is encouraged, allowing for a well-rounded understanding of the department's operations. The position also involves assisting senior accountants and managers/directors with special projects as required, while ensuring the confidentiality of the organization's financial information. Continuous professional development is emphasized, with opportunities to participate in educational programs and read professional publications to stay updated on industry standards and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Performs beginning to intermediate accounting tasks including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other related tasks.
  • Assists Company and Accounting managers in researching general ledger activity and departmental spending levels.
  • Performs analysis on various General Ledger Accounts; investigates questionable data.
  • Updates and maintains accounting journals, ledgers, and other records detailing financial business transactions.
  • Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies and improve current processes or procedures.
  • Cross trains in various accounting functions.
  • Assists senior accountants, Managers/Directors with special projects as required.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Builds working relationships with company cost center managers.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a Bachelor's degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting, is required.
  • 2+ years business experience which includes general ledger review/analysis, financial statement preparation, and/or bookkeeping duties.
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail/thoroughness with a deadline-oriented focus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel & Word.
  • Familiarity with an enterprise accounting system (such as SAP) is a plus but not required.
