The Tax Accountant will report to one of the MGMRI's Tax Managers and primarily assist with the preparation of the company's federal income tax returns and federal income tax provisions. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with tax regulations and involves a variety of tasks that require attention to detail and a solid understanding of tax accounting principles. On a day-to-day basis, the Tax Accountant will assist with the collection of information from other departments within MGMRI that is necessary for preparing calculations of book/tax differences. This includes preparing partnership tax return workpapers and Form 1065's, which is the U.S. Partnership Return of Income. The role also involves preparing calculations of temporary book/tax differences, such as those related to prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, investments in pass-through entities, progressive jackpots, and leases, which are essential for inclusion in the company's federal consolidated income tax return and income tax provision. Additionally, the Tax Accountant will prepare calculations of permanent book/tax differences, including those for meals and entertainment expenses, employee parking, fines and penalties, lobbying expenses, club dues, and political contributions. These calculations are also included in the company's federal consolidated income tax return and income tax provision. The role requires the preparation of lead schedules that support the company's federal consolidated return, including lead-sheets for partnership investments, amortization, tax credits, and Section 163(j). Furthermore, the Tax Accountant will assist with the preparation of the company's Nevada commerce tax returns and various other tasks or projects, including state income tax compliance and tax accounting for fixed assets.
