About the position

The Tax Accountant at Midway Products Group, Inc. is responsible for managing and resolving various tax issues and filings for the company. This role involves the preparation of all Federal, State, and Local tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. The Tax Accountant will also conduct research and provide advice on uncertain tax positions and available tax credits, creating memos to inform ownership about various tax-related items. Additionally, the position requires a review of fixed asset classifications and assistance during audits as needed. In addition to tax-related responsibilities, the Tax Accountant will prepare corporate monthly accounting and financial statements for the Midway corporate office. This includes conducting year-end 1099 analysis and preparation, assembling company forecasts and projections, and assisting in budget controls and analysis. The role also involves completing correspondence with the IRS, state, and local governments regarding tax and penalty issues, as well as preparing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements. The Tax Accountant will review and submit monthly sales tax data and assist in check signing for accounts payable, along with other duties as assigned. This position is essential for maintaining the financial integrity of the company and ensuring compliance with all tax obligations, making it a critical role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all Federal, State, & Local Tax returns
  • Research & advise on uncertain tax positions

  • Create memos to ownership regarding various tax items

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience in tax accounting
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
  • CPA required
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and Tax Preparation Software (Creative Solutions: Ultra Tax)
