They will prepare and post adjusting journal entries in accounting software as needed to organize tax files for preparation. The position also involves preparing workpaper details to summarize data and prepare for tax preparation, calculating and documenting book vs. tax differences for compliance, and preparing Federal and State Corporate, Partnership, Trust, and Individual income tax returns. The Tax Accountant will review the accuracy of tax returns and identify potential tax savings strategies, respond to client inquiries, and provide accounting and tax support to clients and staff as requested. Responsibilities

  • Identify and organize client documentation, coordinating with clients or internal staff to obtain missing information.
  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries in accounting software as needed to organize tax files for preparation.
  • Prepare workpaper detail to summarize data and prepare for tax preparation.
  • Calculate and document book vs. tax differences for tax compliance process, calculate estimated quarterly taxes, and prepare tax projections for planning purposes.
  • Maintain client fixed asset listing in fixed asset software program.
  • Prepare Federal and State Corporate, Partnership, Trust, and Individual income tax returns.
  • Review accuracy of tax returns and identify and communicate potential tax savings strategies to management.
  • Respond to client inquiries, Internal Revenue Service, and state and local tax notices.
  • Provide accounting and tax support to clients and staff as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting/finance or related field (Required).
  • Bachelor's degree (Preferred).
  • 3-5 years industry/public accounting experience.
  • At least 2 years financial statement reporting and corporate tax preparation experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in MS Office Suite, and familiarity with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
  • Experience with Thompson Reuters Ultra Tax and Fixed Asset Manager Software a plus.
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of personal responsibility.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while adhering to established deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
