About the position

OriGene Technologies Inc. is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team in Rockville, MD. As a Tax Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and preparing various tax filings, including federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, and quarterly payments. You will also be responsible for preparing annual reports, franchise tax returns, property tax returns, and sales and use tax returns. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to the appropriate authorities and preparing tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating these schedules. In addition to tax filings, you will assist in researching international tax matters and prepare required tax memos during the annual audit. You will maintain various ledger accounts, including the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, and process month-end balancing while preparing financial reports. Your role will also involve performing general ledger analysis to ensure accurate recording and assisting with the reconciliation of fixed assets for corporate divisions, including capital equipment purchases, disposals, and transfers between divisions, along with monthly depreciation expense. You will support both internal and external audit requirements by pulling supporting documentation for audit requests, putting together analytics, and updating schedules for quarterly and annual filings. Responsibilities

  • Work with CPA firm to file federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, and quarterly income tax payments.
  • Prepare various tax filings: Annual reports, franchise tax returns, property tax returns, and sales and use tax returns.
  • Prepare tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating provision schedules.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Prepare RD tax credit, UNICAP tax, and sales tax exposure analysis.
  • Assist in researching international tax matters; prepare required tax memos during annual audit.
  • Maintain the various ledger accounts including reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Process month-end balancing and prepare financial reports.
  • Perform general ledger analysis of accounts to ensure accurate recording.
  • Assist with reconciliation of fixed assets for corporate and divisions, include reconciling of capital equipment purchases, disposals, and transfers between divisions along with monthly depreciation expense.
  • Prepare manufacturing cost analysis and book cost of sales journal entries.
  • Support internal and external (public accounting auditing firm) audit requirements to include pulling supporting documentation for audit requests, putting together analytics, as well as updating schedules for the quarterly and annual filings.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Controller.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance or other related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in accounting or other role involving financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of corporate tax laws.
  • Keen eye for detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
  • An analytical mind with problem solving aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, while managing competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
