About the position

The Tax Analyst position at the Department of the Treasury involves serving as an expert analyst responsible for developing and interpreting guidance on program planning, execution, and evaluation for compliance, accounts management, and taxpayer education functions. The role requires analytical, technical, and process analysis skills to assess program effectiveness and support strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and interpret guidance on program planning and execution.
• Analyze assigned program areas to discern trends in program delivery.
• Consolidate report data to measure effectiveness in meeting baselines.
• Independently study problems facing operating unit functions.
• Coordinate input from activities outside the division.
• Identify new methods of performing work.
• Provide guidance and serve as a technical program and policy expert.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level for GS-12 applicants.
• Thorough knowledge of IRS functions, programs, policies, regulations, and operations.
• Experience using analytical and evaluative methods to assess program operations.
• Skill in recognizing significant tax issues and enforcement changes.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive written reports and conduct briefings.
