About the position

The Deputy Tax & Accounting Leader will play a key leadership role in shaping the practice's tax and bookkeeping services while managing a large team of tax professionals. This role involves providing expert guidance on complex tax issues, driving business growth, and ensuring high-quality tax services for a diverse client base. The position requires collaboration with other leadership members and focuses on client relationship management, tax strategy development, and team mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Tax & Accounting Leader in managing a team of tax professionals, including managers, senior staff, and associates.
• Collaborate with other professionals to serve as a senior tax advisor for key clients, focusing on tax planning, compliance services, and consulting.
• Help develop and execute tax strategies that focus on tax minimization, compliance, and risk management.
• Provide technical support for the review of complex tax returns and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in mentoring tax managers and junior staff to develop their technical skills and leadership abilities.
• Work with the Tax & Accounting Leader and the quality control team to monitor compliance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in identifying new business opportunities and service lines to contribute to the growth of the tax practice.
• Collaborate with the Tax & Accounting Leader and other leadership team members to develop and implement long-term strategies for growth and client service.

Requirements

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
• 7+ years of experience in tax, including public accounting and tax compliance.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Proven experience in managing tax teams or significant client engagements.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
• Proficiency in tax software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSystem, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Taxation or a related field.
• Experience with specialized tax areas (e.g., international tax, M&A, or SALT).
• Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing staff.
