We are seeking an experience Tax and Insurance Accountant to join the team for a 6 month contract in New York, NY.
Responsibilities
Process tax and insurance payments
Prepare tax, insurance, and reserve for replacement analysis reports
Assist in reconciliation of tax and insurance clearing account
Update and provide Asset Mgt Department with list of outstanding project T&I bills
Maintain T&I tickler report
Verify bank transactions to source documents
Review bank statements and promptly follow-up on outstanding items
Review transaction postings to the General Ledger from EBS
Prepare annual 1099 tax filing reports
Perform other duties as necessary
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Approximately 2-4 years of related progressive experience (gov't or non-profit a plus)
Demonstrated ability to manage accounting functions
Understanding of financial securities and investments, including mortgages, municipal bond financing, tax & insurance function, escrow accounts
Successful candidate must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently
