We are seeking a detailed-oriented and organized professional to support the team in handling tax-related disputes and controversies on behalf of individuals and organizations. The primary role of the Tax Controversy Specialist is to navigate complex tax laws, regulations, and procedures to resolve issues between taxpayers and tax authorities. This position plays a vital role in providing essential support to our Tax Controversy and ERC team, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible representation in their tax matters. The role is based in our Long Beach, CA and Las Vegas offices, and requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. As a Tax Controversy Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of IRS projects, including audits, appeals, collection, penalty abatement, and tax resolution. You will review and analyze client data, respond to information requests, and prepare required supporting documents, including related filings. Additionally, you will track the statute of limitations, provide technical advice on practice and procedure matters, and communicate regularly with both the IRS and other tax authorities to accurately assess clients' individual and business tax issues. Your strong analytical skills will be essential in conducting tax-related research and diagnosing clients' tax issues. The position also involves mentoring and training team members, managing case files in a productive and organized manner, and performing other duties as needed.
