The Tax Director for Firm Tax Entities at Baker Tilly is a leadership role focused on overseeing entity tax services, particularly for partnerships. This position offers a unique opportunity to work without the typical busy season pressures, allowing for a steady schedule year-round. The role emphasizes collaboration with clients and internal teams to provide comprehensive tax compliance and advisory services, while also supporting the professional development of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide federal tax compliance and consulting services to Baker Tilly clients.
  • Deliver tax compliance and advisory services to domestic and foreign partnerships, individuals, S Corporations, and C Corporations, with a focus on domestic partnerships.
  • Participate in tax research projects and assist in drafting IRS responses and addressing tax authority inquiries.
  • Collaborate with leaders on special projects related to flow-through taxation.
  • Develop and share recommendations with leadership for strategic discussions.
  • Communicate with specialty tax practices on complex tax matters across various areas.
  • Stay updated on tax trends and developments to apply to complex situations.
  • Engage in direct coaching and mentoring, and participate in firm-wide learning programs.
  • Network and build strong internal relationships.
  • Support the growth and development of team members through mentoring and guidance.
  • Manage engagement staffing and ensure client budgets are met.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or law required.
  • CPA or JD required.
  • Ten (10)+ years of experience in tax return review and planning for wealthy individuals, with strong experience in personal taxation and flow-through entities.
  • Five (5)+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling associates.
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
  • Highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel) required.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others and provide exceptional client service.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and ethical standards.

Nice-to-haves
